Mobiles may well be the way most people talk every day, but some people still have residential landlines. Do they need them, and what happens when the power goes out?
Landlines don’t quite have the position they once did, but much of Australia keeps using them, and we keep on paying for maintenance on them.
Why is that, and can we retire landlines? And importantly, is there a way to ensure mobiles retain access amidst power blackouts and bushfires?
To talk all about this, Pickr’s Leigh Stark joins ABC’s Lish Fejer on ABC Canberra Mornings for September 9, covering how the technology works and the creature comfort of keeping a landline in our lives.
Check it out from the 1hr 3 minute mark (1.03.30 to be exact) before ABC pulls the recording down (usually after a week).
