The next time you have to call triple zero, you just might find your phone helping the police dispatcher more than you expect. To explain how, Pickr called into the ABC.
How is police dispatch and calls to triple zero changing? With an update to NSW Police, the changes mean anyone with a phone can convey more to the dispatcher on the other end of the call.
Thanks to a new platform, police in NSW can now get GPS coordinates, images, video live-streaming, and even text in different languages, making for a more tech savvy call to emergency, and one that might assist police sooner.
To talk all about that, Pickr’s Leigh Stark joined ABC’s Alice Matthews on ABC Canberra for Monday, August 26, 2024. Tune in at the 19.10 mark to hear the segment before ABC pulls it down (normally a week later).
