A little accolade here and there is a good thing, and this week, Pickr picked up a serious nod, winning Best Website in Australian technology for 2024.
In the past year, Pickr has grown, though you may not realise it. You can hear us on radio more than ever, as our media appearances jumped from roughly 20 in 2023 to around 200 this year in 2024. We’ve even made it on TV once or twice, too.
We’re always around to help, and eager to answer as many questions from readers and listeners as possible, and this year we tried something bold: we removed ads.
Yes, this year we became the only Australian technology website to have no ads and no affiliate links anywhere, updating our advertising policy to match. We’re trying to find a better way of keeping the site up, and think the lack of ads works well with all the ABC appearances we regularly have, as well.
Between those changes, solid articles, and some aesthetic updates to make the site look fresh, we’re happy with how the site is growing… and it seems we’re not the only ones.
This week, Pickr won Best Website at the Consensus IT Writers Awards 2024, edging out another excellent Australian technology website, WhistleOut.
We’re all friends, and Pickr is privileged to be mentioned in the same category as WhistleOut, a website that employs more journalists than Pickr and delivers some of the best news, reviews, and analysis alongside our own.
WhistleOut’s team grabbed quite a few nods of their own at the Consensus IT Writers Awards, and Pickr wishes congratulations to them, as well.
