One of those out of the blue announcements that we suppose probably shouldn’t be totally out of the blue, Microsoft is set to retire Skype in May, as it moves everyone to its other voice and video and chat platform that evolved during the work-from-home Covid pandemic in 2020: Teams.
Yes, Microsoft Teams is here to stay, complete with its assorted headphones, mics, web cams, all complete with the purple Teams button associated with the app.
People still using Skype will see a way to roll over to Teams in the coming days and weeks, while Skype data will be able to be exported, in case you need to keep that.
Some radio stations Pickr appears on actually rely on Skype, too, so they might need to make the move to Teams in the not too distant future, as well, or even use a different digital service. There’s no shortage, for sure, and you might even just trust your trusty old phone line if that fails.
