Improved video resolution in home security and vehicle detection are features set to roll out to Ring security cameras shortly.
CES may well be the home of new product announcements, but that doesn’t mean CES 2025 is only launching new gear. In fact, if you have a recent Ring product, it’s home to updates your current gear could be getting free right now.
Specifically, if you have one of two wired devices, you’ll get access to some better visuals from your Ring security product, while owners of quite a few other models will get a new mode.
For instance, if you own (and have installed) either the wired Floodlight Cam Pro or the Wired Spotlight Cam Pro models, your resolution is about to improve, updating the 1080p Full HD video to 2K video, providing a few more pixels of clarity to check in on folks who might not be on your property with good reason.
Meanwhile, owners of those two models, as well as of others including the Battery Video Doorbell Pro will see support for vehicle detection arrive in the coming weeks, letting Ring owners know when a moving vehicle is detected by one of the supported cameras.
Strangely, this is one of a very small number of CES announcements where the release date is practically now, so if you have one of the supported gadgets, look out for the features shortly.
