Journey turns your water bottle into a trackable iPhone stand

Losing your water bottle is a thing that happens at the gym or even when your kids just take them. But Australia’s Journey has an answer in the form of magnets and tracking.

As the father of two kids, it probably wouldn’t surprise readers to learn that sometimes my water bottle goes missing. It’s not that it randomly sprouts legs and walks off, but the little ones do occasionally help it along, moving it to another room of the home, or even a backpack somewhere else.

The same could happen on a bus or train, or even in the office or gym, and if it goes walkabout, I’d have no idea where my water bottle is. They’re easy to replace, sure, but kind of a pain, especially if you happen to own a water bottle that cost more than a few bucks.

Australian peripheral maker Journey could have an answer in the form of a stainless steel water bottle complete with an Apple “Find My” tracker inside, as well as a ring handle that turns the water bottle into a makeshift stand for your phone.

A slightly more versatile water bottle, the Journey Reevus has an unusual name with a slightly more unusual purpose than most water bottles. Beyond hydrating, it exists to be found and to aim an iPhone your way, and possibly any of the limited Qi2 devices out in the world as well. There’s no charging in the package — this is just a magnetic stand on a water bottle — but it’s a little more capable than your standard water holder.

Journey’s take on a water bottle with a MagSafe iPhone stand in the top isn’t a totally new idea. A few of these have popped up over the past few years, including from Ringo and the Rhinoshield Aqua Stand.

However, Journey’s twist is the inclusion of a Bluetooth tracker inside the lid, complete with a small speaker to point out if you’re leaving your bottle behind. And it’s one that unlike the Apple AirTag doesn’t require a replacement battery, recharging using a wireless charger every few months.

The bottle holds 700ml of liquid, and is made of stainless steel, keeping its contents hot or cold for up to 24 hours.

One thing it doesn’t have is an Australian release date just yet, which given it comes from an Australian company is a little strange. However, we’re told more countries will be added beyond the US shorty, which should mean an Aussie release isn’t far behind.
