Espresso brings a touchscreen to Mac, PC via magnetic stand

Need a bit more screen real estate in a portable way? Australia’s Espresso has something new on the way.

It’s the start of the new year, and if you’re someone returning to work after a short holiday (or even something a little longer), you know what that means: time to get reacquainted with the hope for another year of hopefully remote and/or hybrid work.

For those of us living in that world, working out how to bring an extra screen with you was made a little more interesting last year with the release of a magnetic portable monitor from Australia’s Espresso, and it seems the company isn’t done.

Support for Espresso’s Stand+ looks to get better this year with a new model launching at CES 2025, as Espresso retains the 15 inch screen size of the Espresso 15, but adds support for more brightness and support for touch on both Windows and Mac.

Launching as the Espresso 15 Pro, it’s this year’s addition to a portable working world, bringing a 4K Ultra HD picture to a 15 inch screen size, compared to the Full HD of the regular Espresso 15 from last year.

The design will be as minimalist, offering a matte-black aluminium chassis designed to magnetically mount to the Stand+ peripheral Espresso has made, while the screen connects with one cable.

Like pretty much every other device in the world, the Espresso 15 Pro will use USB-C to connect an extra screen, making it compatible with Windows and Mac, and also working with an iPhone, iPad, and even Android devices, including support for Samsung’s extended desktop “DeX” on Galaxy phones and tablets.

The panel will see support for 1.07 billion colours and works in either portrait or landscape, with the weight coming in at 565 grams.

“Espresso 15 Pro is designed for business travellers, professionals on the go, and people seeking a high-performance tool to help them achieve their best wherever they need to work,” said Will Scuderi, Co-founder and CEO of Espresso Displays.

“Like all espresso Displays products, Espresso 15 Pro is built to give people the best in terms of premium design with glass and aluminium, single cable connection to almost any device, and the freedom to produce quality work wherever the road takes you,” he said.

With Espresso being an Australian company, there’s a pretty good chance the Espresso 15 Pro will launch locally, but no date or pricing has been set yet. We’ll let you know as and when that changes.
