CuboAI baby camera grows up with growth tracking

Monitoring your baby while they sleep just got an upgrade, as CuboAI gains a way to watch for milestones.

One of our favourite baby cameras is getting a bit of an upgrade, even if you’d never realise it simply looking at it.

The CuboAI Smart Baby Monitor 3 looks like the same bird on a stick with a camera inside, but sports upgrades in pretty much every place, bar the design which largely remains the same.

A few years on from the last generation, Cubo’s additions include an upgraded camera supporting a little more than Full HD, now covering 2.5K of resolution at Quad HD, while the camera itself improves its AI detection as well.

One of the key parts of what CuboAI’s cameras do — because it’s clearly in the name — the AI detection looks for covered faces and rollovers, noting that to a parent using the app, which is required to link up to the camera.

New in the third-gen Cubo is improvement for that AI feature, which makes it faster overall, while the camera also supports “growth tracking”. Simply put, the camera will measure a baby’s height as they sleep, using this to monitor for milestones.

Other features from the previous generation are also here, such as cough and cry detection, temperature monitoring, and the ability to run with background sound, allowing you to listen to the sounds from the baby monitor while the app wasn’t actively in use. In the past, this has been one of those unique features, effectively turning a phone into a proper baby monitor even while it’s on standby and charging, and you head off to bed.

The new model even sports more battery life, seeing a change from 18 hours of battery life maximum to closer to three days, a big change given the previous model really preferred being near a power plug.

“This isn’t just a monitor,” said Thomas Tseng, CEO of CuboAI. “It’s a major leap toward shaping the future of parenting. I’m excited to see it bring parents the peace of mind they deserve – and, hopefully, a little more rest as well.”

CuboAI’s Smart Baby Monitor 3 is set to launch on February 5 in Australia.
