The premium smartwatch with the look of a classic analogue timepiece is getting a smaller option shortly focused on smaller wrists.
Smartwatches come in all shapes and sizes, but most of the models we see are all screen. Big displays that cover the whole watch may look great, but they typically come with one caveat: less than desirable battery life.
Models from Withings don’t seem to suffer in quite the same way, however, and we’re pretty sure the focus on an analogue style of watch is the main reason why.
Rather than make an all-screen smartwatch, the Withings ScanWatch range has always been built as an analogue-styled watch with a compact screen up top letting you browse menus to get at the assortment of sensors on-board. That’s been the general idea in prior models, and in the recent ScanWatch 2 and ScanWatch Nova variations, the combination analogue-smartwatch concept has two sizes and styles.
And it’s about to get a third.
Withings has announced a smaller version of the ScanWatch Nova is on the way in the ScanWatch Nova Brilliant Edition, offering a 39mm equivalent of the 42mm original Nova, and featuring much the same features as both the ScanWatch 2 and ScanWatch Nova did. That’ll include an ECG, SpO2 blood oxygen checks, temperature tracking, heart rate, and more, albeit in a slightly smaller design.
Practically everything about the regular Nova and the Brilliant Nova is the same, it seems, except for the size and battery, which is just that little bit smaller overall.
Locally, you can expect to find it in Australia priced the same as the Nova, hitting $799.99 when it lands later this year, available in both titanium silver and a combination of silver and gold.
