Owners of an LG TV will soon see games on webOS they can play with their motion-enhanced remote.
Love it or hate it, LG’s motion-based remote is definitely here to stay, and a part of LG’s TV line-up since webOS became the go for the company.
You don’t have to do too much waving around of the almost-banana-shaped controller to change your TV settings, but if you want to use it to play the odd game, you might soon get your chance.
LG has released a few games made in HTML for webOS on its TVs that specifically take advantage of the Magic Remote, allowing owners of LG TVs some casual games. It includes a conversion of the classic physics-based puzzle game “Cut the Rope”, as well as other puzzle games made for the motion controls of the Magic Remote.
They’re not the only titles made for LG TVs, with others including the likes of Tetris and Wheel of Fortune, but these mightn’t have the same sensitivity to motion controls as the newly introduced titles.
The additions look to run on a variety of screens, though in the case of “Cut the Rope”, you’ll need an LG TV running webOS 22 or higher, which basically means means any TV from 2022 onwards.
It’s a little late for LG to roll these additions out. The Magic Remote is hardly new, yet here we are several generations later with games.
If you don’t have a compatible TV, you can still find the same titles on pretty much every phone and gaming system, but you just might miss out on the remote controls, as much of a miss that will be.
