BlueAnt boosts party X5i speaker with oomph, lights, sound

An update to BlueAnt’s X5 party speaker cuts the cords on its karaoke system while boosting the sound.

Sometimes the only way you can escape is by singing, and the latest speaker from BlueAnt definitely has that in its reason for existing, as the Aussie maker works out what’s next.

We’ve seen earphones from the brand and soundbars from BlueAnt, as well, and we’ve also seen plenty of speakers, too.

The next continues the latter, as the X5 party speaker gets an “i” in the name, as well as more useful features such as more power, more lighting, and wireless microphones.

Those are the main changes in the X5i, a portable speaker boasting 120W of peak power, a big punch from the bass via a 165mm driver, and a 20K battery (20800mAh) to cover up to 30 hours of battery when used use for sound at half volume or 7 hours for full volume.

BlueAnt’s speakers tend to double up as battery chargers for phones, and the X5i is no different, working as a power bank for phones, as well. Granted, it’s a 4.8 kilogram power bank, or a 4.8kg speaker with a power bank inside, with lights and sound.

“We’ve fine-tuned the beat-driven light display and we’ve made the microphones free and unfettered – all while continuing to focus on the audio which, in the case of the X5i, is better than ever,” said Taisen Maddern, CEO of BlueAnt.

Connecting to the speaker will happen through either an auxiliary cable connection (3.5mm) or Bluetooth 5.4, and there’s also a USB port for plugging a thumbdrive in, handy if you want to set the speaker for a set and forget style of experience. BlueAnt’s change to the microphones is also notable, cutting the cords and going wireless, with two mics included in the package.

The BlueAnt X5i is heading to Telstra and Optus stores shortly, where it will be priced at $479 in Australia.
