More phones are on the way, and with Apple’s announcements coming the this month, Google and Microsoft are choosing the next.
It’s going to be a busy next four or five weeks or so, what with all the announcements coming.
There’s no reason to be surprised about this, mind you: the holiday shopping season will be coming quickly, and gadget makers will want to get their wares out in time.
Apple will be doing its major announcements this week, likely showing off a few new iPhones, a new Watch, and possibly some new computers alongside, and come next month, it’ll have some new competition.
Google has announced a date of October 9 in the US (October 10 locally) that we’ll get to hear about the next generation of the Pixel phones, likely called the Pixel 3 and Pixel 3 XL, and it’s not the only October release.
The week before it, Microsoft will have an announcement on new Surfaces, with October 2 being the date we’re expected to see them.
That potentially means if you were thinking of buying a Microsoft Surface or a Google Pixel, you may want to hold off, unless they’ve been marked down pretty severely or are something like the Surface Go.
Microsoft’s recently released Surface Go is so new, it’s unlikely the company will provide an update for that computer, but the regular Surface Pro and Surface Book are definitely more in line.
And that’s not likely to be the only October release, because with more device updates expected from other companies, we’d say the next month or so is going to be particularly busy.
