Force Friday may not be for another few months, but that’s not the only Star Wars special occasion out there, as Amazon joins in for the May 4 special.
Star Wars will always have a special place in our hearts, and any chance we get to reminisce or recall quotes, there’s a good chance we’re going to do it.
You might look at us like we’re crazy geeks — and we are — but May 4 is one of those days where it’s completely allowed, almost like a Dad Joke Acceptance Day, except it applies to Star Wars because May 4 sounds like “may the force be with you”.
We’re not the only ones participating, though, because Amazon is there with us, donning a robe, finding a roll of cardboard, and pretending that it has a lightsaber as well, or at least getting its Alexa smart speaker assistant into the action for the day.
In fact, to celebrate May The Fourth Be With You’s “Star Wars Day” (because that’s what it is), Amazon has added a few things to Alexa to celebrate the Star Wars fan-person in all of us. You’ll be able to get a Star Wars-y response out of Alexa simply by saying one of the following things:
- Alexa, come to the dark side
- Alexa, I am your father
- Alexa, I have a bad feeling about this
- Alexa, tell me a Star Wars joke
- Alexa, tell me a Star Wars limerick
- Alexa, aren’t you a little short for a storm trooper?
- Alexa, who is your favourite Star Wars character,
- Alexa, can you talk like Yoda?
Playing with Alexa for May 4, you may find Alexa’s acting abilities leave something to be desired, and she lacks the believability that Lucas, Kershner, Marquand, Abrams, Johnson, and Edwards have all achieved, and what likely Howard will, too, in the upcoming film “Solo”.
As such, we doubt Amazon’s Alexa will be cast in a film, but at least you can have some fun, in between getting her to control the music and other smart devices in your home.
